Nutrition Response Testing
Root Cause Nutritional Analysis for Natural Healing
Nutrition Response Testing (NRT) is a non-invasive system of analyzing the body to help identify the underlying causes of your symptoms and dysfunction, by testing your organs, glands, and body systems. Using these findings, our holistic health practitioners develop a personalized program to restore your health.
This approach was developed by combining successful health practices from around the world, including ancient sources, as well as German, Chinese, and Japanese holistic medicine with modern applied kinesiology from the West. The method is clinically structured, accurate, and has been proven effective in identifying various chronic health issues.
What is Nutrition Response Testing?
Nutrition Response Testing® is a precise, non-invasive system of analyzing the body to determine the underlying causes of ill health. Unlike conventional lab work, NRT uses the body's neurological reflexes toidentify exactly which organs, glands, or body systems are under underlying stress, and what nutritional supplements or dietary support they need to heal.
Developed over nearly three decades, NRT combines insights from Chinese and Japanese holistic medicine, German biological medicine, and Western applied kinesiology into one structured, repeatable clinical nutrition process. It is not a diagnosis in the medical sense, it is a way of listening to the body and designing a personalized nutrition program based on what it tells us.
At Healing Tree Natural Health, our certified NRT practitioners use this method to help patients in Whitehall, Muskegon, Montague, and across West Michigan address chronic health concerns naturally, without drugs or invasive procedures. In addition to these areas, we also service long distance clients via Virtual Consultation with the use of Blood Labs.
What Are We Testing For?
The Nutrition Response Testing® Practitioner is testing your body's neurological reflexes, the body's response that tells us how your nervous system is functioning. The nervous system regulates the body's function for every organ, gland, joint, and muscle.
As part of your NRT analysis, we also test for the 6 most common "stressors" that can affect your body's ability to respond to natural therapies:
- Food sensitivities and allergies to major food groups
- Chemical toxicity
- Heavy Metal Toxicity (mercury, lead, aluminum, etc.)
- Chronic immune challenges
- Scars on the surface of the body (including tattoos)
- Post-pandemic factors
These findings are analyzed and your personal Total Health Restoration Program will be designed to support balance and optimal health.

How Does Nutrition Response Testing Work?
Electrical energy flows exist between all parts and organs of the body, this is how your nervous system communicates and controls the body's function. These flows can become disrupted by physical or chemical stressors, leading to imbalance and dysfunction at the cellular level.
Your NRT Practitioner will perform a full body scan to determine exactly where the nervous system is being affected. The practitioner contacts your extended arm with one hand while contacting a specific reflex area with the other. If the tested reflex is stressed, your nervous system will respond by reducing energy to your extended arm, causing it to weaken. This indicates an underlying stress or nutritional imbalance in that area of your body.
Once the underlying cause of the dysfunction is corrected using targeted nutrition and the right supplements, the weak muscle response will no longer occur, and healing can begin.
How Soon Will I See Improvement?
Although every case is different, we often hear enthusiastic reports from patients in as little as 4-6 weeks. Those who follow their program closely, including dietary changes and food supplements, tend to see the fastest improvement in their overall wellness.
How Important Is It To Stick To My Program?
Chronic health problems do not develop overnight, they develop over years of improper diet, environmental chemical exposure, medication use, and unhealthy lifestyle habits, all of which cause nutritional deficiencies and imbalance. The sooner you begin, the sooner your body can start to repair and heal.
Your Total Health Restoration Program will be designed to correct your specific health issues. The Guided Nutrition Coaching portion will provide clinical nutrition education and answers, guiding you in the changes needed to support your tissues, joints, and overall life quality.
